Settler's Pride BOM, Block 1

Now in progress~!I did it! I cut out all the pieces for my first block! I'm so excited!!!!
I wanted my quilt to look as close to the original one as possible so I made sure to order all the woolens from the designer's source. I'm so glad I did. They are amazing.
I spent the weekend cutting the kits and with the exception of this month's newbies they have all gone out. Since I am still waiting on the woolens for those, I thought I'd start my sample and now I can't wait to get started stitching it all down.
BTW... I really don't "get" the freezer paper... it peels off the wool when I cut it.
What's up with that? Maybe I'm a little too aggressive with the steam???
I decided to forgo my usual friend Mr. Fusible Web... and now my thought is WHY????
Too late now, LOL! Stay tuned for an update. =)
It's not too late to start your own Settler's Pride wool quilt.
You can join the Settler's pride BOM monthly mailing program HERE!
The woolens are yummy. They come labeled and ready for you to start right away!
Fun, Fun, Fun!

Nice block! I'm tempted to join this one as I really want to do something with wool. But I can't...I just can't...I have too many things in the works already. *SOB*

Stitch with the fusible web, Brenda. It'll make your life so much easier. Do whatever works best for you...even if the original instructions say do it another way.

Just MHO...

Hi Brenda, That's going to be beautiful. You'll have to show it once you've finished the block.
As for the freezer paper ... don't use steam to iron it onto the wool. Just use a dry iron. The moisture from the steam keeps it from sticking. The dry iron will stick that freezer paper on tight.

I use freezer paper with wool, but I do not use steam.
It stays on long enough for me to cut it, which is all you need for wool.

Your block looks great....I applique a bit, but have never tried a stabilzer...maybe I need to!! :)

Your spring blooms are wonderful and I'm so glad your tree gave you a wonderful surprize!

LOVE the loot you found with your friend on your recent outing. Friends are truly our sanity...PLUS a good lunch and some "finds" help, too!

Have a great weekend! Dana

You will enjoy doing this quilt. I just finished block 8. I think the colors in it are awesome! We made template pattern pieces out of manila folders and traced them on the wool.If you try this, make sure the wrong side of wool is up when tracing.I have pictures on my website of the blocks I have done if you would like to look at them. Have fun!

Very pretty block, I think if you don't use the steam you will get much better results. It is going to be a fabulous quilt.
